After sitting out the entire 2018 season, Le’Veon Bell has signed a four-year deal with the New York Jets worth $52.5 million, $35 million of which is guaranteed. The deal, which averages about $13.5 million per year, is less than what Bell would have made last year under the franchise tag with the Pittsburgh Steelers but still makes him the second highest paid back in the league behind only the Ram’s Todd Gurley.
Generally considered the most versatile running back in the league, Bell will now be the centerpiece of a revamped Jet offense that finished just 26th in rushing in 2018. Bell is equally as dangerous as a receiver out of the backfield which should help second-year quarterback progress as a check off option out of the backfield. In 2017, Bell led the NFL in rushing with 1281 yards and 406 touches. The 27-year-old Bell has an incredible 7996 yards from scrimmage in just 62 career games.
