Several league sources have reported that the Lakers will officially shut down Lonzo Ball for the rest of the 2018-2019 season with an ankle injury. Ball suffered a Grade III ankle sprain after a collision with James Harden back on January 19th and has missed 19 games with this injury. The original prognosis was for Ball to miss 4-6 weeks but an evaluation in February indicated the injury needed more time and a further evaluation on Friday showed no improvement. Ball is averaging 9.9 points-per-game this year to go along with 5.4 assists. The Lakers are 5-14 in the oft-injured Ball’s current absence.
