The Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders have verbally agreed to a trade that would send problem child wide receiver Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders for a third and fifth round pick in this year’s draft. The Steelers had originally stuck to their guns in wanting a first-round draft pick but Brown has indicated that he wants a raise and will not honor his current contract worth $38.9 million over three years, none of which was guaranteed.
In a new deal with the Raiders, Brown will get a bump to $50.1 million dollars with approximately $30 million dollars in guarantees. Brown will also have a revision in a four year-extension negotiated in 2017 that would up the value of the deal to $19.8 million dollars per season making Brown the highest paid wide receiver in the league. NFL trades will become official at 4:00 PM EST on Wednesday, March 13th … the start of the new league year.
