Former WBA and IBF Lightweight Champion Rocky Lockridge has passed away at 60 from complications of a stroke. Lockridge had a successful amateur career before turning pro and finishing with a 44-9 record. Lockridge handed Roger Mayweather his first defeat via a first-round knockout in a fight that last just 98 seconds to capture his first title which he would eventually lose to Wilfredo Gomez.
Lockridge battled drug addiction later in life and is possibly even more famous for an appearance he made on the reality show “Intervention’ On the show, as his family desperately poured their hearts in an effort to get Lockridge treatment, the former champion burst out in a wail that went viral on the internet and would later be known as the “best cry ever.”
