Ryan Bader knocked out MMA legend Fedor Emilianenko in just 35 seconds to claim the vacant Bellator heavyweight championship. The fight was the culmination of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix which started in January of 2018 bringing together the organization’s top eight heavyweights together in a single elimination tournament. Fedor advanced to the final with wins over Frank Mir and Chael Sonnen. Bader advanced with wins over Mo Lawler and Matt Mitrione.
Bader becomes the first Bellator athlete to hold two straps in two two different weight classes simultaneously. Bader also holds the Bellator light-heavyweight belt and would like to defend both. Amanda Nunes currently holds two titles in the UFC and Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier have had titles in the past.
