Rich Paul, the agent for the New Orleans Pelicans All-NBA power forward Anthony Davis, has informed the team that he will not sign a $240 million supermax extension deal with the club and wants to be traded. Davis becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020 and demand comes just 10 days before this year’s trade deadline.
Davis is averaging 29.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. He was the No.1 overall draft pick in the league in 2012 after playing at Kentucky. The Pelicans are just 22-28 this year and sitting in 13th place in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. Davis has battle some minor injuries and New Orleans is 20-21 with Davis and 2-7 without “The Unibrow”. Last year, the Pelicans made the playoffs and swept Portland in the first round before losing to Golden State in five games.
Davis should command a heavy price with the Lakers and Boston Celtics being the most likely suitors.
