The No.1 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide and have suspended three players including a starting offensive lineman for Saturday’s Cotton Bowl showdown with Oklahoma. Starting OL Deonte Brown and reserve OL Elliot Baker and TE Kedrick James did not travel to South Beach and will not play with the team the rest of the year and possibly ever.
HC Nick Saban did not specify the infractions but in a press conference did say that they were “poor decisions” that were violations of team policy and also NCAA related violations. A 6’4″ 344 pound guard, Brown had made his first start in the Tennessee game and has started five of the Crimson Tide’s last six games missing only the game against The Citadel with a turf toe problem. Brown will be replaced by senior Lester Cotton.
