The demons that have plagued Josh Gordon throughout his NFL career have reared their ugly heads once again as the NFL has announced his indefinite suspension for multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy, Gordon had tweeted early Thursday that he was stepping away from football to concentrate on “mental health” issues. The NFL announced it’s suspension a short time later.
The talented but deeply troubled wide out has a long history of mental health and substance abuse issues and sat out all of 2015 and 2016 on an indefinite suspension before being reinstated in February of 2017. He played a total of 11 games with the Cleveland Browns between 2014 and 2018 before being traded to New England after injuring his hamstring at a team photo shoot. Gordon was having an excellent year for the Pats with 40 catches for 720 yards and three touchdowns before this latest incident.
