It was a tough 48 hours to be a head coach of a Cleveland sports franchise. Sunday, the Cavs fired Tyronn Lue. On Monday, the long awaited axe fell on head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. The Browns were 2-5-1 this year after going 1-31 the previous two years under Jackson. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams takes over as the interim coach. Running backs coach Freddie Kitchens takes over as the new offensive coordinator.
The Browns have been much more competitive this year than in the two prior years but recent public dysfunctionality between Jackson and Haley forced ownership to make the move. Haley, who was thought to be brought in as Jackson’s future replacement, was also let go. Jackson should have no problem finding work as he’s had success as an offensive coordinator, holding that position with four other organizations.
