One of the league’s top receivers and Russel Wilson’s “go to” guy, WR Doug Baldwin, will be out indefinitely after the Seattle Seahawks announced that he had a sustained a “Grade Two partial” tear of the MCL ligament in what was his good knee. Baldwin started the year with a MCL tear in his other knee and chose to maintain the knee with treatment rather than opt for surgery. There is no timetable for Baldwin’s return which could be several weeks.
Since 2015, Baldwin is ranks No.9 in the league in receptions with 247, No.12 in receiving yards with 3188, and No.2 with 29 touchdown catches. With TE Jimmy Graham traded and deep threat Paul Richardson also gone, Russell Wilson will need the likes of Tyler Lockett and others to step up. The Seahawks take on the Bears in Chicago this week on Monday night football before facing the division games with the Cardinals and Rams. Already 0-1 after losing Week One in Denver, the paper thin Seahawks can ill afford too slow a start in the power house NFC.
